Contrary to reports that many Pampanga residents want President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to run for Congress in 2010, results of the latest IBON nationwide survey show otherwise.
Asked if they were aware of reports that the president will run as representative in Pampanga after her term ends as chief executive, 76.5% of respondents in Pampanga said yes. Of these respondents, however, only 16.9% said that they were in favor for Pres. Arroyo to stay in government this way. 44.6% in Pampanga said they were not in favor.
Nationwide, 61% of the total 1,496 respondents said they are aware Pres. Arroyo will run for Congress. Of this number, 85.8% said they were not in favor for the president to stay in government as a Pampanga representative.
The October 2009 nationwide survey was conducted on October 2-8 using multi-stage probability sampling scheme. The latest survey has a margin of error of plus or minus three percent.
