Pwedeng maghatid ang renewable energy ng maraming pakinabang kung pauunlarin ito sa paraang nagsisilbi sa kapakanan ng mamamayan. Pwedeng mabawasan ang pagdepende ng bansa sa inaangkat na coal, langis, at natural gas, kaya hindi gaanong maaapektuhan ng pagtaas ng pandaigdigang presyo ng mga produktong petrolyo at ng mga pagkaantala sa suplay. Makatutulong din ito sa pagpapababa ng greenhouse gas emissions at polusyon.<\/p>\n

Nagpatupad ang gobyerno ng Pilipipnas ng ilang mga patakaran para hikayatin ang pagpapaunlad ng renewable energy. Nagibgay ang Renewable Energy Act of 2008 ng mga insentibo tulad ng mga tax break at iba pang benepisyo para mahikayat ang mga kumpanya na mamuhunan sa mga proyektong renewable energy. Samantala, nagtatakda ang National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) ng mga target para sa pagpapalawak ng kapasidad ng renewable energy sa bansa.<\/p>\n
