During National Book Week, research group IBON is set to launch its 2017 \u201cEconomics for Filipinos\u201d planner with recently-proclaimed National Book Awardee Manix Abrera.<\/p>\n
Themed \u201cPromoting Pro-people Economics for Filipinos\u201d, the 2017 IBON planner was illustrated by the\u00a0 celebrated Philippine Daily Inquirer cartoon strip \u201cKiko Machine\u201d artist and author. His recent work “News Hardcore!” earned the Best Book of Graphic Literature award in the National Book Development Board (NBDB) and Manila Critics Circle-sponsored 35th National Book Awards.<\/p>\n
Abrera\u2019s cartoons on the planner capture IBON\u2019s twelve-item adaptation of the 15-point People\u2019s Agenda for Nationalist and Progressive Change. IBON highlights points for nationalist and progressive economics that counterpose the neoliberal economic policy-making that, according to the group, worsens poverty and inequality in the Philippines.<\/p>\n
The 2017 IBON planner will be launched at the IBON Bookshop on Timog Avenue, Quezon City on November 23 at two o’clock during the kickoff of a three-day sale.
