Renewable energy does not have to depend only on large power plants. Small-scale and community-based systems such as rooftop solar, solar-powered irrigation, microgrids, renewable energy cooperatives, and community solar projects can help bring electricity closer to the people who need it most. These systems can improve energy access while creating local jobs and strengthening community participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To support these initiatives, the government can provide affordable financing, grants, technical assistance, and training for households, cooperatives, local governments, farmers, fisherfolk, and small enterprises. Public investment can also help communities install and maintain renewable energy systems without carrying excessive financial risks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By supporting locally owned renewable energy, the country can expand clean energy while ensuring that more of its benefits stay within communities instead of flowing mainly to large corporations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
