As it is, the Php645/day nominal minimum wage in the National Capital Region falls short of the Php1,221/ day family living wage (FLW) by Php576. Nominal minimum wages in the other regions are even lower. The 2025 midterm elections’ political aspirants almost all said that they are for wage hikes to push the purchasing power of Filipinos up. But the challenge is to raise wages to at least the level of the estimated FLW.
