Corruption not less in past three months, says survey

Critics have pointed out that the Aquino administration’s drive against corruption lacks genuine reforms, including holding accountable several administration allies involved in anomalies

Over half of Filipinos do not think there was less corruption in the country in the past three months, according to the latest nationwide survey conducted by research group IBON.

Asked if they think there was less corruption in the previous quarter, 54.7% of the 1,501 respondents answered no, 29.5% said yes, while 15.2% were uncertain.

Critics have pointed out that the Aquino administration’s drive against corruption lacks genuine reforms, including holding accountable several administration allies involved in anomalies.

The IBON nationwide survey used multi-stage probability sampling method and has a margin of error of plus or minus three percent. It is a non-commissioned survey conducted on January 19-30 across various sectors in 16 regions. (end)
