64% of Filipinos had trouble paying for electricity—IBON Survey

IBON’s latest survey showed that many Filipinos had trouble meeting expenses on electricity and water in the recent months.

Asked how their family met expenses on electricity and water in the past three months, six of ten said they had trouble meeting electricity expenses while many said they had trouble meeting water expenses.

Sixty-four percent of total respondents answered that they had difficulty in paying for electricity while only 30.2% said they did not. Meanwhile, 41% answered that they had difficulty in paying for water while only 36.4% said they did not.

The September round of IBON’s Opinion Survey was conducted from September 1-12, 2016 among 1,505 respondents in 17 regions. The survey employed field interviews and a multi-stage probability sampling scheme with a plus or minus 3% margin of error.
