2020 has finally, mercifully, come to an end but whether the coming year is going to be better is still so uncertain. There’s certainly much we can do to make sure that 2021 is better.
Through the the 2021 Yearstarter Birdtalk, we will look back on the year just passed but also take up the prospects for our country and economy in 2021. How did the Duterte administration respond to the worst health and economic crisis in the country’s history? The pandemic has been cataclysmic – what did this reveal about the kind of governance we have? What’s behind the upsurge in political repression and human rights violations? What are some key economic and political trends in 2021? What should and can be done?
The 2021 Yearstarter Birdtalk will be held online at 2:00 PM on January 18, 2021. It can be viewed at the Facebook and Youtube platforms of IBON Foundation, and the Facebook page of the IBON Partnership in Education for Development (IPED) where you can also interact to share your views and ask questions. It will also be shown on the Facebook pages of the IBON Bookshop, Altermidya, FYT, Kodao, Now You Know, Philippine Misereor Partners Inc., Pinoy Weekly, Rappler and Seesaw Channel.
We hope you can join us not just to shake off 2020 but more importantly to start the year off with a clearer idea of where we all want to go.
